Definition of 'Minor' - A minor injury is one where symptoms are not serious or long term in nature. This will usually be for cases of severe bruising, minor cuts or abrasion and other soft tissue injuries where symptoms are felt for a minimum of 3 weeks. Very little if any time off will be required to recover.

Definition of 'Moderate' - A moderate injury is one where any symptoms suffered are significant and intense. They can last for a long period of time but are unlikely to cause long term problems or disability. Typical injuries will be significant cuts, lacerations or abrasions possibly causing permanent scarring, minor fractures not requiring surgical reconstruction or serious soft tissue injuries requiring a long period of recovery.

Definition of 'Serious' - A severe injury is one where any symptoms suffered are extensive, long lasting and probably causing permanent loss of function or disability. Typical injuries will be extensive crushing or trauma to limbs requiring surgery and possible amputation, extensive fractures requiring a long period of rehabilitation, internal injuries or head injuries causing a long term loss of function probably with an increased risk of developing epilepsy.
